About Us
Climate Appraisal Services LLC was established in May 2006 as an enterprise to advance science communication by making available to the public customized climate and environmental risk information. Climate Appraisal literally "brings home" address-based, potential environmental risks by putting such scientific data at your fingertips.
Climate Appraisal combines both historical data, and in certain areas state-of-the-art forecasting science, to deliver a comprehensive address-based climate appraisal report. As part of our long-term commitment to enhance Climate Appraisal information, more than half of our net profits will be reinvested in new cutting edge scientific research and development projects. As appraisals are requested, they help provide funding for new research to advance environmental science and its communication. This in turn then serves to further enhance our information database available to clients. This commitment both facilitates and promotes focused information development to most effectively advance our science communication objective.
Whether you already own a home, are looking to purchase a new home or property and want to know its environmental facts, are looking to sell a home and want to know what prospective buyers may know, (or are involved in a property related industry), Climate Appraisal can provide a wide range of useful climate and environmental "science content" relating to a specific property address. We believe that a client has a right to know this information at its most personal level - you then determine what in that information is most important to you. Climate Appraisal is truly the first of its kind to integrate such a wide variety of climate and environmental science content, and make it available at an address specific level.
David H. Purcell, our business founder and concept originator is a 25 year business professional. As CEO, he manages all aspects of the Climate Appraisal business model, including strategic model development to further our primary science communication objective, and the client information needs it serves. Our information researchers include renowned scientists, with a wide variety of specialties in the Geosciences, Atmospheric, and Environmental sciences. You can learn more about them in the Scientists section of this site.
Currently, Climate Appraisal supports science communication in its appraisal reports within the contiguous 48 United States in the science categories listed below. We plan to further enhance our offerings based on client feedback, as well as new Climate Apppraisal sponsored research initiatives. Our corporate policy is to provide our clients with the highest quality appraisal reporting in these science categories, in the most unbiased and ethical manner we possibly can:
- Shoreline Reduction from Climate Change
- Hurricanes

In short, Climate Appraisal does the research on all these subjects for the client, integrates and displays it at a regional or address level, and combines it with forecasts and/or unique scientist commentary to make our appraisals as customized as they can be for the client.
Finally, we want to thank the following government agencies and their scientists who work tirelessly to provide public information in these areas:
CDC, DOE, EPA, FEMA, NADP, NASA, NCDC, NOAA, NRC, USGS, WRCC - all of these agencies are duly cited in our appraisal sources where appropriate.
